“Psychotherapy solutions for your everyday needs”

I can help with anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, infertility, cultural issues, work related issues and bereavement or loss, as well as panic attacks, eating disorders, phobias/fears, OCD and smoking cessation

Why Therapy?

Sometimes life can be difficult, and we can feel alone and without an answer, therapy can be a safe unbiased place to explore issues and find a way forward.

People come to therapy for many reasons below are some of them;

To deal with difficult feelings
To overcome roles which are holding them back
To change destructive patterns of behaviour
To free themselves of outdated defence mechanisms
To be able to fulfil their full potential.

Therapy can help us make sense of the past or understand current difficulties which are holding us back. When we understand what has caused our present situation and know what we really want from life then we are ready to make changes. Therapy can then help us experiment with different ways of being, which ultimately lead us to be able to fulfil our potential and lead happier more balanced lives.

Why CBT?

CBT aims to influence dysfunctional emotions and behaviors by challenging the way we respond to certain events/triggers in our lives. It can be particularly helpful to treat;

Anxiety and depression
Panic attacks
Phobias/fears
OCD
Smoking
Eating disorders.

Therapy is generally short-term 6-18 weeks, but can be longer. CBT has been shown to have a very good success rate in helping people to overcome issues, and results can be quick to see, within weeks rather than months, for this reason it is the current therapy of choice on the NHS. CBT requires you to be active in the therapy process and I may from time to time set homework, people often find that the more structured format CBT takes helps them to be clearer about the progress they are making in therapy.

Smoking cessation, phobias/fears, panic attacks, and weight loss

Hypnotherapy, relaxation and NLP techniques (NLP helps to reframe how the mind works) can really help with smoking cessation, phobias/fears, panic attacks and weight loss. Unlike psychotherapy or CBT, where change takes place over weeks or months, with hypnotherapy or NLP techniques you may only need 1-3 sessions (after initial assessment) to see a real change.

Sessions and location

Therapy sessions last for 50 minutes and normally take place in Harley Street. The first session is an assessment session during which I can find out a bit more about you and what you would like from therapy. Therapy can be as short as 2-3 sessions (NLP, Hypnotherapy), 3 months (CBT) or up to a year or more (General Psychotherapy). When we meet we can discuss which approach would best suit you.

My credentials

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP), the United Kingdom's largest professional body for counsellors and psychotherapists. I am also a graduate member of the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) a graduate organisational member for UKCP. I grew up in London and after university worked as a recruitment consultant in the City. Following the death of a family member and a difficult personal time I realised that life was too short not to do what you are really interested in, and I decided to follow my heart and train as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I undertook and completed both an MA and Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have also completed specific training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in a number of counselling service settings and privately. I either work holistically drawing from a number of different psychotherapy approaches or can work specifically using CBT, depending on the particular needs of a client. From time to time, if you are happy for me to do so, I may use relaxation, NLP, hypnotherapy and other visualisation or imagery techniques. Sessions are normally 50 minutes and therapy can be short term a few sessions or longer term depending on, which approach we use.
